SSX was one of the first “extreme” sports games I ever played and enjoyed, so I was pretty excited to hear that we were finally getting a current generation SSX game. Unfortunately, the end product is kind of disappointing. This new SSX focuses much, much more on realism than the previous games ever did. In fact, to survive racing and tricking down the most dangerous mountainsides in the world, you must actually learn to equip your rider with different armor and boards made specially for whatever kind of track you’re facing. Even with your boarder completely prepared to face the dangers of snowboarding, though, you’ll still find yourself often retrying a course, because the AI is ridiculously perfect. Fortunately, the soundtrack is fantastic, so if you can put up with the pain in the ass AI, you’ll at least have some nice ear candy to keep you company. If you have the patience to retry a single course a lot, then this game might just be for you, but I personally found it frustrating to no end.

That's too bad, I was actually really excited for this game, but it sounds annoying. I may still give it a shot sometime. Is the soundtrack original? SSX Blur is still my all time favorite game soundtrack.

I have the demo on my Xbox but keep forgetting to try it. I lost interest in it when I found out there's no splitscreen support.

The soundtrack has a few original soundtrack bits, but it's mainly licensed music from lots of different genres which is remixed into dubstep depending on what tricks you perform. It sounds pretty weird, but I actually like dubstep, so I enjoyed it.

so sad...I loved SSX 3. I gave blur a poison awhile ago. http://www.1uporpoison.com/wii/ssx-blur/ Ultimately, I hated the controls too much. I loved throwing snowballs at the otehr players though. SSX 3 would talk about how awesome I was doing with the whole radio BIG thing. I really wanted this one to be cool too.
