Clown Ball

The clown/circus theme combined with the black abyss in the background make Clown Ball a somewhat uncomfortable experience. Clowns and black holes do not go together! This is a tilting puzzle game, as well, so the uneasiness is amplified by the very nature of the genre. The controls work well enough (tilting to move), but it’s hard to really put the game to the ultimate test when the levels are overly simple and repetitive. That is, until you get to the level where you have to jump through several rings of fire. Then the game goes from boring to outright frustrating. To be fair, a little frustration prevails throughout, because the camera is basically a one-trick pony. The only control you have over it is pushing the orange arrow button, which will shift the camera behind the clown. But how often is the clown even looking where you want him to?! Stupid clown… I want to give some leeway here, since tilt puzzles may just be a difficult genre to get right on a phone, but considering Monkey Ball has already gone mobile, you’d probably be better off sticking with that.
