Jak and Daxter Collection

Playing through the entire trilogy back-to-back in HD made me realize two things. One, Jak II is definitely my favorite of the franchise, and two, the Naughty Dog development team is even more amazing than I had realized. Sure, they did Crash Bandicoot, but it wasn’t until the Jack and Daxter games when they really showed their stuff. Masterful storytelling, excellent voice acting, beautiful (and skippable) cut scenes, and engaging gameplay—all with zero loading times—are something you rarely come across even today. It makes me realize how lazy other developers in the same genre are. My only complaint is that the jump from the first game, which is a little childish, to the gritty second installment feels choppy. If they had added Daxter, a PSP title, to bridge that gap, it would have felt more seamless.  However, these three timeless adventures still hold their own today in one decently-priced package (or separate on the PS Store). This is a deal that no one with a PS3 should pass by.
