It’s nice to finally have all three games in HD on the PS3. Tomb Raider: Legend is a linear, cinematic experience that I loved so much, I played through it three times in a row for trophies. The Uncharted franchise definitely took tips from this game. The second title, Anniversary, is a beautiful remake of Lara’s earliest adventure featuring puzzles so pleasingly massive that I spent hours solving them without losing interest. This warranted two playthroughs before I was even willing to move on. After those two very fluid games, Tomb Raider: Underworld’s flaws were horrifically apparent. The camera is constantly flipping about, and Lara is missing several frames per action. Unless you are desperate to finish the story, don’t torture yourself with this hack job of a game. I barely got through Underworld once before putting it down forever. Overall, the excellence of the first two titles and the high replay value make up for the lackluster third game and make this compilation a no-brainer for adventure fans.

I played Legend on the Gamecube and really liked it. I remember the gunplay being somewhat of a bore, but the platforming and puzzle sections were cool.

The targeting system in the first two is pretty similar to shooting in Devil May Cry. You just stay locked on and jump around to avoid getting hit. If the enemy charges you in these games, if you time it right, you get a slow motion chance at a head shot, which was really fun to master. In the newest one, Underworld, they make you target two enemies at once even if they are in completely opposite directions, which makes the camera jerk all over the place every time you pull out your guns. It's really painful to play.
