Excite Truck

Even though it was a launch title, Excite Truck remains one of the most impressive Wii games. It features pretty visuals, custom soundtracks, and motion controls that make sense. The controls are actually a lot of what make this game so good; they feel responsive and set it apart from every other off-road racer. What really puts Excite Truck ahead of the rest is the point system. Everything from drifting to driving too close to trees awards you points, and the person with the most points wins. So the fastest racer isn’t necessarily the winner. In fact, usually the most reckless driver comes in first. It’s a unique twist that can lead to some very intense moments when trying to rack up a series of tree runs. Smashing into other cars is great fun, and it’s unfortunate that there isn’t more interaction between players, especially in the multiplayer which is completely devoid of other vehicles. Had Excite Truck featured 8-16 player online multiplayer, or at least the ability to add in some bots, it would be nearly perfect.
I also agree with jr about the exitebots mini game stuff, which detracted from the race portion imo. The motion stuff was unresponsive, this is one i got rid of fast.
