This game is a twin-stick shooter. There are keyboard controls, but good luck with that! For me, shooters like this are all about balance. I find little intrinsic value in beating an easy game, but if it is too hard, I'll never return. Waves found a great balance. Not only does it look awesome, but it has the coolest soundtrack ever! The sound reminds me of a mixture of Donkey Kong Country 2 and Metroid Prime boss music. In Waves, you are a ball rolling around in a giant circle, destroying all sorts of spawning hexagonal enemies from all directions. The gameplay is simple with some cool mechanics and game modes that make me want to come back to this over and over again for 15-20 minutes at a time. I particularly loved the bomb run mode which is all maneuvering, no shooting.  Waves has slow-mo, similar to that in Pac-Man Championship Edition DX, but it is manually controlled here. The one thing this game is missing is some power-ups or variety in weapons. You know, just to spice things up. I'm no pro yet, but Waves has given plenty of beautiful reasons to become one.
