Puzzle Bobble Live!

So… is it called Puzzle Bobble or Bust-a-Move? I realize the series goes by different names in different regions, but the fact that this XBLA release can’t even keep it straight just shows how lazy of a port it is. Not only does Puzzle Bobble suffer from identity crisis, it doesn’t know how to label achievements correctly or keep a steady connection going over Xbox Live. This is a poor, poor attempt to bring Bust-a-Move to the Xbox, but even half-assed Puzzle Bobble is still good Bust-a-Move. This has always been my favorite color-matching puzzle game, because it relies on calculating angles and setting up shots. I feel like a total stud every time I bounce the ball off the wall exactly where I wanted it to go. I’ve had a copy of Puzzle Bobble on just about every system I’ve ever owned, so of course I can accept the laziness behind Bust-a-Move Live and enjoy some bubble-popping action. All things considered, though, I gotta give it a thumbs down, because it’s pretty much a soulless cash-in.
