It’s time to clean the lens on your Kinect, because Wreckateer is one game that gets it right. This is a simple physics puzzler that wouldn’t necessarily be impossible without Kinect but is certainly made enjoyable with it. Wreckateer succeeds where other Kinect games have failed by keeping the number of gestures to a minimum and making them broad enough to reduce mistakes. Gameplay wise, you may be tempted to compare Wreckateer to Angry Birds, since the goal is to launch cannon balls at castles filled with green goblins, but it actually has more of a Boom Blox feel to it. The emphasis is on pure destruction and racking up as many points as possible. Knocking down a castle isn’t terribly exciting, though, because every building disappears in a puff of splinters when toppled. Nonetheless, it’s fun to utilize the different cannon ball types (I particularly like the one that you control like a flying eagle) as you figure out the best way to cause the most damage. I mean, who doesn’t like a game where you get to destroy stuff?
